Having set a wedding date pre-COVID meant post-COVID the gym routine went out the window and in came the cake! After a few months it was time to face the truth…even as a self confessed gym bunny, I needed some help. I’ve been personal training with Nike since July 2020 with the initial aim of getting fitter and healthier. Not only have I ticked those boxes but gained confidence and incredibly proud at having lost 15 kilos in the process! It’s been tough but well worth the effort despite having to exercise outside in a local park especially over the winter months during lockdown! I couldn’t have done it without Nike’s constant support and encouragement. Her sessions are fun and she’ll motivate you every step of the way. I’m now married and continuing my journey with Nike as hoping to finally go on honeymoon abroad in 2021! See you on the beach and wishing you all the best!

The key is to make better decisions each day on what I eat.

I always say I can't diet as it makes me miserable but what I have learnt in this process is that for me the key is to make better decisions each day on what I eat, plan ahead and have a target in mind. That plus the exercise sessions is my approach to get back my shape after giving birth to my beautiful baby.

I never knew what fun boxing could be!

I have really enjoyed my sessions with Nicki; there are so many ways to exercise that I never knew about.  Also, before I joined, working on my own, I injured my knee because I was doing something incorrectly. Now I know the correct way!  I find myself really encouraged to work a bit at home just because I have another session coming up.  I did 3 ½ hours of gardening yesterday, which proved to me that I am already stronger.  And, I never knew what fun boxing could be!

Sometimes it's not about what the scales say but how you feel in yourself.

Before joining the group sessions I hadn't stepped foot in a gym and was rather intimidated by any type of exercise in case I wasn't able to do it as well as others. In the past month, I have noticed my fitness improve and I now consciously make healthier decisions when it comes to food. I also find myself looking forward to the sessions and make the effort to exercise in my spare time. Sometimes it's not about what the scales say but how you feel in yourself and I'm looking forward to working towards a new stronger me as the months go on.

I feel so much better in myself mentally and physically.

My main reason for beginning personal training was to help prepare me for the London Marathon and get my core strength up since my abdominal surgery. But it has been so much more than that. I look forward to coming to training. Emma and Nicki motivate and work us really hard but we still have a laugh. I have made some really lovely friends and each session is different. I feel so much better in myself mentally and physically as I can see my body changing through this journey.
